Legal Question in Business Law in India

I am in Steel Trading business , I procure Steel materials from Raipur market , In Raipur there is one association called Chattisgarh Steel Chamber and all steel related businessman of that area are associated with that organisation both direct and in indirect ways . In due course of my various business transactions I encountered one business dispute with one steel manufacturers and now that association is pressurizing me to settle the dispute by paying to that manufacturer otherwise they will blacklist me and even they have started circulating my name in their market through SMS in their 800 members . Now the Question is that as WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS AS PER LAW CAN ANYBODY HAVE A RIGHT TO DEFAME OF BLACKLIST ANYONE ?

legally they cannot do it and you may sue them for the offence of defamation and also file a civil action for damages and compensation for the loss of goodwill.

What was the dispute with that manufacturer ? were you suppose to pay to that manufacturer?

That manufacturer must be a member of that association and thats why the association is forcing you settle the dispute. If the dipute is genuine then i would suggest to settle it as you cant do anything against the association.

usually these organisations works to settle the dispute within their capacity to hold the community together and keep peace .if u dont find them gud and partial i suggest you to file cases as per suggested by Mr Rajiv Gupta .
