Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India
My father died around 4 years ago. He had purchased shares and didn't had the nomination on them. At the same time we had filed for a succession certificate. Its almost 4 years since we haven't got the succession certificate. Kindly suggest as if we have been misguided by our lawyer or its the normal trend in this case. We have even advertised regarding our fathers death 2 years ago as stated by our lawyer. Kindly show the right direction as to what should we do and what should we inquire if required.

A succession certificate is required if there are immovable properties also. If there is no immovable property involved, no succession certificate is required. You may just need a Letter of Administration for transfer of movable assets like shares / bank accounts etc.
