Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India

I issued few checks to a person about 8 months back. there were 3-4 checks issued 8 months ago.Now after paying him in cash he is refusing me to return the checks back. what is the possibility of him taking more money from me. what can I do about it. I have not taken any things in written while giving the money because we were friends.

Can he now claim those checks...it is more than 6 months....these checks were bounced couple of times because of some reason.

its your mistake that you paid him cash without taking the cheques back. he may misuse those cheques and file a complaint under negotiable instruments act or file a civil suit for recovery against you. its better if you talk to him and ask him to give the cheques back.
