Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India
Suing Newspaper in India
I was wondering if it is possible to sue a newspaper which has reported a police arrest of a person and mentioned company name for the damage?
It is pretty common in India to report any police arrest even though the person is not convicted.
In other words who gives right to newspapers to publish private matter. I see it is a privacy invasion.

It is neither a private matter nor a private invasion. An arrest of a person, prior to trial, is a matter of public interest and public concern.
Even publishing picture of the person in handcuffs, arrested by the police, may not be an offence.
Rather, by the time the trial is completed and the person is convicted or acquitted, the value of the news is diminished.
In my opinion, you may have no case against the newspaper for publishing your arrest alongwith your company's name.

you can file a suit for claiming damages for defamation done and also you can file a criminal complaint u /s 500 of indian penal code.
