Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India
A Tenant who is running a shop from 34 years, paying the rent on time, is been asked to evict the shop under section 16 of Maharashtra Rent Control Act 1999, on the basis of bonafide need. The landlord runs a shop in the same complex, has 3-4 shops with him, has a godown on the terrace, and many other shops and properties in the nearby area.
The tenant's bread and butter is this shop and business.
Tenant has a shop nearby, its a godown underground shop, which was used for workshop for the tailoring business.
The landlord has mentioned this shop, as alternate accomodation.
The landlord is also stating that the tenancy is terminated, and he would charge a compensation after filing the suit.
There was no agreement for tenure as such.
Please help.

this cannot be considered a bonafide need of the landlord and you can file an appeal against the order of eviction.
