Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India
Right of the tenant
U have been living in a flat in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh for the past 21 months. My landlord wants to increase the rent by 40% else tells me to vacate the flat. What are the rights I have? Can he increase the rent according to his whims else tell me to vacate? I do not have any contract with him while occupying the house. But I do pay rent regularly and transfer the money to his account. Can he evict me? Please advise.

You may consult a local Advocate alongwith the documents about payment of rent by you.

You need not to be worried. Live there and pay rent continuously as agreed between parties. If there is any problem with landlord, he will file case against you, then you will be need to answer his objections accordingly.
