tree cutting

I'm a dorector in library, i stay near library so all work is supervised by me only.Now, there was some trees of NILGIRI in library ground,so if we cut them just by informing municipality,but not written permission, is it an offence ?

yes, you need prior written permission of Forest Department before cutting a tree.

Thanks for referring an interesting question of law involved in the matter. I had carefully gone into the facts narrated by you in your reference.

If tees belong to

municipality , then it is essential to take written permission from the owner thereof. If trees are cut without prior permissiion of owner of trees , it amounts theft under the provisions of Indian Penal Code.
