double jeopardy means that a person can be punished or tried for the same offence when he has already tried or punished for the offence.

Double Jeopardy is not permissible as per Article 20 of the constitution. No one can be condemned of the same offence twice. The principle is also imbibed in Criminal Procedure Code.
