cheque bounced -action required
cheque issued to me by our tenant for tenancy bounced with inssuficient funds as reason. What legal action can i take against the person as he is in no mood to compromise for the loss.

You have to issue a lawyer notice and filed a criminal complaint under Section 138 of negotiable Instrument Axt

You have three legal rights:
1. Take action for cheque bounce.
2. Lodge criminal complaint with police for cheating.
3. File case against him for arrears of rent.

You may issue a Notice of Demand contemplated by section 138 N.I. Act and on failure of drawer of cheque to pay within 15 days, prosecute him/her.
