Legal Question in Consumer Law in India
Complaint against Sony India and dealer ''Sony Mony,Prabhadevi''
I purchased a Sony 26U300A LCD TV from Sony Mony,Prabhadevi in Mumbai on 21st May 2008.I had specifically asked for a TV equal or better to the 26 V series. The dealer assured me that the U series was far superior. The TV was however inferior to the 26 V series which I was looking for in terms of contrast and specifications. Also the 26 U series was discontinued in the Indian market by 31st May 2008(10 days only) and is now not sold here. The dealer was only looking to get rid of a few TVs which he had received from another dealer. I requested the dealer to therefore exchange it with the 26 S series which was newly launched and agreed to pay the difference in price. The dealer refused. I was disappointed that Sony India also refused to exchange the TV(which is not their policy outside India). Also the contact person at Sony tried to assure me that the U series was a transition model and was equally good, but could not answer me as to why the model was then discontinued in 10 days. It looks like Sony India is more interested in keeping the dealer happy rather than the consumer. Please let me know what can be done in this case.(Is it that inferior quality is not considered as a complaint in this country)

i will be able to advice better if u can call me.
anyway... if you have immediately complained to the dealer about the wrong set then u deserve the exchange without any problem. if u gave specific written instructions before purchase or even after purchase u told the dealer that this was not the set u asked or something like that then too u can claim exchange
otherthings i can tell only on conversation
