Court fees ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs 5000/- depending upon the Forum. It is mandatory for the complainant to pay the same, as made compulsory by the Central Govt, New Delhi as per the Consumer Protection Rules 1987. Vakalatnama is mandatory, only if one is represented by an Advocate and the welfare stamps to be affixed are made mandatory by the respective Bar Council of the state.

The party is having all rights to appear before the courts including consumer forums and in case an advocate is engaged, vakalath is mandatory.
