Legal Question in Consumer Law in India
I have a credit card issued by a leading bank. 2 months back, the bill had finance charges. On the advice of the call centre employee, we paid only the amount minus the charges. The subsequent two bills however, keep showing them as outstanding with further charges on them. We have not used the card in the meantime. We again spoke to the call centre who told us to wait for 3 days after which they would get back to us with the status.
In the meantime, we have been getting calls, everyday, from another number, claiming to be the collection department, asking us to pay the amount. They say they are not concerned with the call centre and are only following up on what they think is outstanding. We are not given any contact nos. of any senior personnel at the bank. We sent an email to the id which they gave, but there is no response. Since I am already going through the process for resolution and am waiting for a response, what course should I follow. Can I lodge a police complaint for harassment.
