Legal Question in Consumer Law in India

Electric meter faulty.

I am a consumer having BEST meter installed in my place.The said meter was placed by BEST in the year 2003.As on today the total reading on the said meter is 4404 units i.e from the day one till today.

BEST vigilance department raide and found meter to be slowed by 50%.Assuming that the meter was slowed by 50%,then what is the calculation of fined to be paid by me.Can u guide me to some provision of law,since they have applied pressure tecnics upon me and collected nearly 2.5lakhs towards fine without justifying.Is there any provision for applea or any guidelines,rule and regulation,wherein the BEST is bind by certain laws of how much to impose penalty if the meter is found to be tampered without the knowledge of the consumer or vice-versa.Assuming my reading from 2003 till date is 4404 units only.As per them the meter was slowed to 50%,then how much i should pay inclusive of additional penaties.Pl.guide

on back of the meter calculations are given and u can calculate from there.

for legal help and calculations you have to meet personally or if u are outside delhi then u have to send documents alongwith consultation fees.

certainly there are some norms in such cases but they vary from case to case.

Approach the electricity court of Best.You may also approach consumer court.
