Legal Question in Consumer Law in India
I gave a dateless i.e. Cheque without any date for my Society Maintenance at the time of agreement. At the time of possession, I paid him through some other cheque and have got the reciept of this new cheque. Builder asked me to return the dateless cheque reciept and then he will return me the cheque. Now builder is not returning me the dateless cheque. Even I have got the cheque cancelled from Bank but still I want to know what I can do.
Please if someone can help me out?

You may issue a notice by registered post to builder asking him to return the undated cheque and not to present the same for payment. Also, mention in notice, the fact and circumstances causing you to deliver that cheque to builder and its relevance as on date.
I believe you have already passed stop payment instructions. Keep the acknowledgment of notice having received by builder for your records..
Issue notice through a lawyer to the builder.
