Dear Queriest,

We understand your query in three parts

1. can a person approach consumer court without the help of lawyer??

Ans: A person can approach the Consumer Court without the help of lawyer. However before approaching the consumer without the help of lawyer, you need to be thorough about your case and the section/provision of the consumer protection Act under which the consumer complaint is filed. If stakes are high it is always advisable to engage a lawyer.

2. Will court tell him to attend on date every time as district court do??

Ans: It is necessary for a consumer to attend every date, failing which the consumer complaint may be dismissed in default.

3. how to file a complaint before National Commission??

Ans: Every complaint can not be filed before NC and only eligible complaint having value more than 1 crore are eligible to be filed before NC. Filing procedure is the same as it is in case of the filing before the district fourum. for more detail for filing complaints you may visit website of national commission.

Re: Related.Consumer Court

in national commission, its very difficult for an individual without the knowledge of law, to appear and plead his case. a lawyer is an unavoidable requirement there. in forums, one can represent his case if he is fully aware of the facts and is able to use some brain of his. generally the cases in consumer courts are decided expeditiously.

Re: Related.Consumer Court

yes, you can file a case "in person" before any court in India; but then you will need to appear on each and every date fixed by the court.

it is better to engage a counsel to avoid all these hassles.
