weights and measure

dear sir, i am a bharat petroleum dealer selling only bpcl products like petrol diesel and lubricants. during one of the inspection one container of 500ml of coolent displayed in the shelf had volume less then 500 ml and hence a case was filed undr sec 39 of weights and measure act .this container is sealed and pre packed by bpcl and supplied by bpcl and sold under licence from bpcl

then how am i responsiblefor this what defence do i have to take in order to overcome this problem

You are responsible because you are the agent of BPCL and will be joint and severally liable with BPCL.

My friend, you dont have a perfect defence in this case. You can only say what you have said in your question. Check your agreement with BPCL, what does is say about liability and indemnification.

Fines under this Act range between five hundred to five thousand rupees. Dont do the same thing second time otherwise you'll be imprisoned, if I go by your facts.
