Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

Check bounce and late payment fees charged

Dear Sir,

I have a case at hand in india where my credit card bank charged me exoritantly for cheque bouncing citing insufficient funds as reason even though i had sufficient amount in my drawee bank account. I did clarify about the cheque bounce with drawee bank that the cheque did not bounce. Infact as per the drawee bank there was no cheque by that particular cheque number presented by the credit card bank for clearence. Also my drawee bank account statement doesnot show any cheque reversal charges.

Even after repeated requests with the credit card, it seemed they are very reluctant to entertain my query and very indifferent.

initially they said that investigations are going on this and requested me that i pay the entire amt to avoid any further penalty.

Today i recd a letter from the credit card bank stating that the same reason and that the bounced cheque cannot be produced as it is reqd for their internal records.

I am mentally exhausted writing emails/phone calls to the credit card bank.

Pls let me know what legal action can i take. Does RTI/RBI rule allow me to see the counterfoil of the bounced cheque. What else should i do and where should i go for help?

Thanks & regards

Re: Check bounce and late payment fees charged

It is better that you file complaint with consumer forum.RTI Act does not apply in case of private banks.RBI will not help in this regard.
