Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

Credit Card Outstanding queries

I was using a credit card in 2006. I had some outstanding on the card. Then I shifted to another city and forgot to change my communication address. Also meanwhile my permanent address was changed. So I think the CC company doesn't have any info to contact me. But now I fear that they might sue me in future. My questions -

1. Can they sue me anytime down the line?

2. Somewhere I read that, they can file a civil suit within 3 years. Is it possible that they can file a suit without informing me?

3. If they can, then in that case can they keep on charging per month interest after 3 years also?

Please provide some answers as I am kind of getting worried now. Thanks.

Re: Credit Card Outstanding queries

Yes, they may keep charging you interest till filing of suit; at least for three years from the date of last statement till they decide to sue you.

Better you immediately contact them, clear the bill by entering into a mutual settlement; usually they waive full or partial interest at the time of settlement. Contact them personally and tell them your problem. it may not be worth to fight the litigation if you are at fault.
