Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

My current Credit Card Statement reflects a claim exactly four years old. This had never appeared before in any of the statements. I have been regular and prompt in payment of my credit card dues and there has never been a default, delay, part or delayed payment.

I do not have any records, nor has the credit card provider furnished any supporting for this four year old amount.

Whats my liability? Is it beyond the limitation? Please adivse.

Dear Sir / Madam,

You are not liable for payment if the bank issuing the Credit Card cannot furnish documentary proof and evidence (actual charge slips for purchases made at several outlets) for the transaction(s) being claimed by them as still remaining unpaid by you.

Moreover, banks are required to bill the Credit Card customer within 60 days of the date of transaction ... so you have a mute point in your defence here.
