Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India
Fraud
Since I live in the US, what legal options do I have to recover my money that was loaned to an individual in India?
If I want to pursue one of these legal options, where do I start and whom should I contact? Is there a database of attorney's who specialize in this area?

Re: Fraud
To my limited knowledge there is do database of Attorneys online in India like in U.S. This kind of suits are normally handled by most of the Attorneys in India as most of them are litigators only. This is normally handled by Advocates who practice in the civil side.
Where did you loan the amount? I mean the place where the amount was given the promissory note or other document evidencing the loan was executed?
Where do the opposite party normally resides or is last known to reside?
If you follow the Indian legal system, then in either one of these places you can sue the person if the loan was given within three years from the date of filing the suit. To sue, you should have demanded in writing or by Attorneys notice to pay the loan and it should not have been complied with. Three years is also calculated from the date of last payment of interest.
If any one of the places is either in Tamil Nadu or in Bangalore or Kerala, Mumbai or New Delhi I may be able to help you.
