Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

My friend was using a credit Card of HDFC, never defaulted in payments but since he lost his job and now unemployed have been failing to make minimum payment. My freind is too scared is afraid that if he is caught by bank, he will be jailed.I am his friend but do not earn much to be able to help in any way.My question is : Can a person be jailed for not being able to pay Credit Card dues?

they will just ask you to make the payment with interest further
