406 ipc
I got married under HMA.My husband works abroad in temporary visa.He has filed for divorce there and about to get divorce in that countryHe has not returned my shreedhan yet in spite of sending one notice through lawyer to return my shreedhan.But no help.Six months has pass yet they have not return my shreedhan.I have lodge 406 but police has not taken any action.They are saying its inter state matter so its difficult for them to do anything.

1)In 406 will police call my husband from abroad or will just call my in laws as jewellery's are in their possession?

You may file the complaint with the local court for appropriate directions to the police to investigate the offence properly by summoning your husband.

You have to file a private complaint u/s 156 (3) and then court will summon through Ambessay.

they should call your husband too. if police is not taking action then write to higher police officials and even then there is no action then with the help of a lawyer, approach the court for registration of FIR.

Its advisable that you do all pleadings through an advocate.
