action for cheating the police?
one of the accused in 498-A case cheated the police with out providing her passport details.she had already a valid passport by that time the police arrested her.but she told the police that she does not have passport.so the columns related to passport details were left blank in police or court records.she also misleaded the court by giving wrong surname. In this case , how the police can take action for her cheating?.under what section , she is punishable?

The police may consider taking appropriate action. It is not for you to guide the police about the proposed action.

the police as well as the court can register an FIR against the person who gave wrong information or mislead the court. his/her bail orders can also be cancelled.
if you have her passport details, you can provide the same to the court and can ask of cancellation of bail and for appropriate legal action. the court has also the power to direct the police to register the FIR against such person

Check the law under which such an information has to be provided and then proceeding accordingly.

check the relevant provision under which such information was required by the police. If there is a default then police can register the compliant.
