Re: bounced check
No.Your liability is to the extent your father in law left any property.take advise of a lawyer. to stop such persons you have to approach court.
Re: bounced check
the case is sensitive, hence more briefing is needed. what all cases have been filed needs to be specified.
Re: bounced check
Madam, your husband and brother-in-law committed a mistake by signing cheques of a debt belonging to their deceased father. Once the father is dead, only to the extent of his estate, a civil suit could have been filed.
Now they have signed the cheques, hence, they become personally liable for a debt which is not theirs. You have brought trouble upon yourself.
Had you consulted an Advocate earlier, this situation would not have arisen.
The creditors having the cheques will prosecute your husband and brother-in-law in the criminal court, and since, the cheques are with them, they will be in a stronger position.
My advise is settle the matter for less, but you cannot completely get out. Hard luck.
Re: bounced check
Dear Madam,
Dont worry, things canbe solved. since your question is not clear and seem to be complicated, it is better you consult an advocate and defend the cases.
Re: bounced check
fight the cases
if the cheques were signed only by your father in law then you may evade the liability
