calling for documents

case is posted for framing chargesthe case is related to theft of adraft iwant to call for some documents some documents are with police and some are with bank from where the draft was stolen iwant to use these while crosexamining the witnesses is it the right procedure to move apetition before the trial courtrequesting court to direct police and bank to produce those/?can i do this immediately after charges are framed?

Yes, you can apply the court for issuing summons to the parties for production of documents.

Documents can be called for using provisions of section 91 Cr.P.C. Only criteria is that the documents should be relevant.

in case you are the complainant, you need to ask the PP to call for records and in case you are accused, you would get the oppportunity for the same once prosecution evidence is over and you are questioned u/s 313 of Crpc.
