dear sir
if wife signs a cheque from joint saving account and the cheque gets bounced . then can husband be tried under section 420of ipc or under section 138 of ipc.

Yes, if it is a joint account, prosecution may be initiated against both the account holders and both of them may be held liable.

As far as 138 NI concerned, signatory of the cheque is generally prosecuted.
For 420 IPC, depends on the facts and circumstances of the case.

He can tried u/s 138 of the NI Act and as far s. 420 is concerned it depands on the facts of the case.
