Cheque bounce

Hi

a friend of mine in india has borrowed money(handloan) for business and isued blank cheques.Now he is completely bankrupt and attempted suicide due to heavy loss.wat happens if lender files a case of cheque bounce and if my friend is unable to pay in the court?? will he be only punished..if yes, what is the punishment for cheque bounce and inability to repay any money..pls answer

2 years or more and double of the cheque amount

In a criminal case u/s.138, refund of money is not the criteria. For the offence, punishment is upto 2 years and in default of payment of compensation or fine, couple of more months.

2 years imprisonment and/or upto double the amount of cheque is the punishment for chq bounching.

Its 2 yrs or more and double amount of the cheque amount.
