cheque return

signed blank [ without amount and payees name ] cheque lost which was marked stop payment but was presented in the bank after a/c closed. what kind of liability does the drawer has to bear and is there any protection for him ?

If payee has claimed nothing from you, then no liability. Else, you will be put on trial.

There is no liability on the drawer if the cheque has been stopped by the drawer.

The drawer may need to lodge an FIR and informed the payee upon receipt of notice about the factual position.

The drawer can lodge fir and if notice is recd for chq dishonour can reply accordingly.
