A Magistrate is empowered to direct/order an investigation U/s.156(3) Cr.P.C. in respect of cognisable offencees before taking cognisance of those offence. Once cognisance of offence is taken by the Magistrate, it can direct/order inquiry/investigation U/s.202 Cr.P.C.
