Dear Sir / Madam,

All Islamic countries follow and practice the sharia law by which an individual is given the death penalty if he/she takes the life of another. India also follows capital punishment for criminals causing death.

Although I have visited countries in only two other continents besides Asia, to the best of my knowledge till date, no country anywhere in the world imposes death penalty on a rapist.

Of late, propogators of the law in India have been advocating awarding of the death penalty in case of rape, which matter is pending disposal before the Supreme Court.

In India today, a minor aged 15 and above who is accused and convicted of rape by the juvenile court is liable for imprisonment till he attains the age of 18 to be a major or the tenure of the sentence, whichever is later.
