Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Court appearance in Indian court - how long dates can be taken

I've a case going on in Indian court, I'm NRI and it would be difficult to attend court even once a month.

Would it be possible to get a long date say every 3-6 months or so?

I've spoken to my lawyer and he says that the maximum he can get me is 1 month and not more than that.

Well!! providing dates is the discretion of the court. However, you can request the court and try to tell the judge your problem.

You may follow the advice of your lawyer. The convenience of an accused may not be a sufficient ground for the court to grant adjournment.

Depending on nature of case, your presence may not be necessary and your lawyer can proceed with your case even in your absence.
