how to defend a suit filed for defamation (civil suit for damages) filed by a chargesheeted employee against some words got recorded during enquiry proceedings. The enquiry proceedings are not attended by any outsider (only by the chargesheeted employee;presenting officer and enquiry officer). The words were got recorded in the contest of arguments going on between the chargesheeted employee and presenting offficer.

How come inquiry proceedings are not attended by any outsider ?, On what basis a suit for defamation, damages filed ?, what's the exact cause of action ?, And what sort of inquiry is this ?.
