Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

I want to find out about the Criminal history of an individual who is involved in an assault case registered by me. In the past he was involved in various cheating cases, illegal lottery cases, etc., How I can find that history? I have filed an application under Right to Information Act, to the inspector in his jurisdictional police station. But that person has bribed the police and police replied me saying that there are no cases registered against him. He also has managed the police where I registered my case, so they are also not helping me. Please let me know if there is any other way to find that out.
