Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

An FIR was lodged for fraudlent marriage but police did not investigated the matter. Writ of mandamus was filed now. Police has been directed to investigate and record statements and have the accused arrested. I wish to know how many days does the high court give to the police to submit their report.

the high court must have ordered the police to file the status report within a stipulated time or by next date of hearing. you may go through the court order.

There is no fixed rule or law for the court to decide the days to be given to the Police to submit their report.

Generally the report is submitted after investigation and recording statements. So where court has not directed to file report within stipulated time police take 5 to 6 dates.

Go through order, you will be clear. Usually, next date, but court cannot bound police officials to arrest any person within time limit.

Good Luck.
