Re: Fir

FIR can be registered in respect of a cognisable offence.

Lost of share certificate is not a cognisable offence.

Requirement of company about FIR of lost shares is misconceived.

Simplest way could be, make written FIR type letter and submit it to police station and obtain acknowledgment of police on your office copy and submit the same to the concerned company.

Re: Fir

Police Officer is very much right refusing to register FIR on the offence which is not cognizable in nature and instant case doesn’t fall within the ambit of section 154 of CRPC. You may, however, may lodge simply complaint which the police officer will reduce into writing and will issue you its acknowledgement.

Advice of Mr. Shrichand Nahar is also good.

Re: Fir

You should send the FIR to the police by registered post with a copy to the SP of the area concerned; and a certified thereof may be sent to the company.
