Legal Question in Criminal Law in India
i said to some of my friends for fun, that one girl loves me and she said she said she will die if i don't love her, later on i admitted to my friends that i was just kidding, the girl dint said to me like that, this incident happened exactly 5 years ago, she has come to know about it now( via local publication published recently) , she is saying she will file a case now, can she do so?, can a person be held for private conversation with friends?, is this the case of defamation?
a local person(whom i don't know and may be reporter) inquired about me with one of my friend(with whom conversation is held) and got information about above mentioned incident and got it published with out my consent.
i made conversation with 5 of my friends only in our house , i have no intention to malign any one. I don't know what are the intentions of person who made it published.
how can i defend myself if any case filed?
Thanks for responding to my previous queries.

Deny everything and threaten the paper who has published this story.
Be that it may, the burden to prove defamation is upon the complainant. Of the two conditions, the impact of publication is absolutely missing.
One can think of defence upon knowing precise allegations made against him/her.
However, if you commit yourself to any particular stand right now, then that may be limiting factor for the probable defences.
