Dear Dev,

In order to minimize the punishment to be awarded and thrust upon you by the District Magistrate in Kota, Rajasthan in this non-bailable, compoundable offence that you and your friend have committed, your first task is to appear in person before the judge on the appointed date for hearing the matter, and to plead guilty and accept that you both committed the offence. Pledge further that since you have returned the stolen amount to the Police, have been summarily punished and already spent 5 days in jail, you will never ever repeat any offence in future and request to be pardoned.

Please do not attempt to cook-up any false stories before the District Magistrate on the advice of any local Advocate/lawyer as it may land you both in even more serious trouble.
