Legal Question in Criminal Law in India
We (my husband and I) live in Canada and are Canadian citizens. We have inherited some properties in India from my late father-in-law. He never made any will or anything like that. But my in-laws are trying to cheat us out of our right on the property. They forged some legal documents to claim the ownership of the entire property and are trying to sue us with some false allegations u/s 144, 125 etc. On our last trip to India in 2010 they harrassed us in every possible way, even physically assaulted me. Can I sue them from here (Canada) for harrassing me and my husband? Are these charges valid? We never received any notice or anything.
