Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

India - Police Code of conduct and case against police

Is there anything called ''code of conduct'' for police which they have to follow?

If it exists where to find it? It is for Karnataka state Police. I tried to search for it but couldn't get it on net.

Also if such code exist and if police have violated it then can I file a case against them in court?

Hello.

Good Morning!

Police Authorities do not have a code of conduct as you are asking but yes they have to abide by the conditions laid down in State's Police Act.

I would advise you to make intimation/complaint/representation to the superior office or the higher authorities mentioning your problem if it is in connection to any working official.

In case of need please contact personally alongwith the details.

OR

Mail me all the facts.
