If magistrate imposed cost for taking adjournment and if we don't pay then what will be the consequences? under what provision? what is the remedy?

You can either pay the costs or challenge the same before superior court.
Non payment or non challenge would entail its recovery as fine.

if the cost is not very high, pay it, otherwise case can be either dismissed/proceeded against you.
different provisions in different laws
move an application for waiver of cost mentioning your genuine reasons or go to higher court against the order.
