Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Lawyer Change

I want to change my lawyer in my maintenance case under 125.I have already cleared all his dues. But in spite of that he has sent me a legal notice that i have not cleared his dues and he has given me 10 days to clear his dues though i have cleared all his dues.

What can i do in such scenario?

Re: Lawyer Change

The lawyers are governed by the discipline enforced by the Bar Associations and the State Bar Councils.

You may contact the

(a) Bar Association where he is a member;

(b) The State Bar Council where he is enrolled as an Advocate.

However, you may first inform him about your having clear his dues and that you have to approach the Bar Association and the Bar Council if he continues making unreasonable demands.

Write to him that you have paid all the dues giving him the details of cash and cheque. If he still insist then lodge a complaint with the State Bar Council.
