what are the legal recourse to recover cheque return amount

send a legal notice within a month of bouncing of cheque and afterwards file a criminal complaint u/s 138 of NI Act within 45 days of sending the notice.

to recover amount you can file criminal as well civil suit.
criminal case means sending notice within 30 days from date of information received by you for returning of the cheque. wait for 15 days for amount from the date of notice received by party. if not you can file case within 30 days.
Said notice can be used for filing summary suit for recovery of amount as civil suit,but you have to pay court fees amount applicable.
