An intentional act or omission to cause hurt is an offence under the Indian Penal Code. If the intention is to cause a simple hurt, an offenceis made out. If the intention is to cause a grevious hurt, another offence is made out and so on. Since your query is not clear on this point, specific section applicable to fact of the case is not quoted.
