Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

My mother was driving a car and happened to hit two women. One suffered minor injuries and the other had an arm fracture .We tried settling the matter by paying them for their treatment and some extra money too however the other party used this as a means to extort money and demanded a sum of Rs 1 lac cash in two days time .Since this did not work out they filed a case . We did get a lawyer who helped us get the bail but I wanted to know how this case can now be handled . The have booked us under three sections 1)Negligent driving 2)Grevious injury and another section detiails of which i will get in another few days.... Needs suggestions to handle this case
