my mother in law has filed false complaint against me?

my husband and i are getting a divorce and he is being very vindictive. his mother has today sent the police to the house after she filed a complaint against me saying that i am immoral etc, which is utterly false. can i file a case against her for filing a false complaint and get the police to take action against her and also a defamation case?

you can file the case for defamation but first you need to get the f.i.r against you quashed by intervention of high court. unless you prove yourself innocent, how can you involve her in a case of defamation.

depending on facts you may file defamation case but you can file complaint against Domestic Violence Act.
