Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

my niece a lawyer ( not practising ) eloped with a lawyer ( practising ) on dec 07 2010 about 10 am. after sometime around 12:30 pm the brother in law of my niece ( her jija ji ) informed us that he received her mobile call. she told that they have done court marriage. and are safe, hale and hearty. the father of the girl , a very gentle and meek person is not ready to accept their action. he is not on speaking terms with her daughter ever since he came to know about their affair. he is not a violent person . he is gentle. his intentions are not to hurt them in anyway. but he is just upset with their decision. he says that if u want to accept their decision and want to do any formalities u do that alone . i dont want to talk or face them anyway.the only messenger between my niece , her court-married husband and we people is her jija ji. he has prevailed upon the whole situation in such a way that nobody else can talk to the girl and the boy . every thing we came to know abt is through him. even the news of her court marriage and subsequent guarrantee of their safety. if anybody else says him that, as the girl and the boy have confidence in u, pls ask them to just talk to us and say that they are fine so that we can get relieved as we only know anything or everything through u. how should we believe u. he also has stopped us to lodge any FIR with police about missing of the girl. we tried to meet the family of the boy to get them formally married too as everybody agrees now but their house is locked. ( the jija has recently tried to engage the girl with his brother and everything was nearly final and he knew the whole affair of the girl.) all these points make him a fishy character in our eyes. we are concerned about the safety of our niece and that boy. pls advise what are the legal options available with us....... should we lodge an FIR with the police about the missing of our niece... we love her , we respect her decision and we have no problem with her mariage . we are ready to accept the boy...no problrm but again the fishy character of her jija makes us more apprehensive...if she or the boy are safe wherever they are.... pls advise...

Consider making an application to SSP or Commissioner of your area giving all the facts and details of the matter as also your apprehensions in the matter with a request inquire into the matter and if anything suspicious or doubtful is revealed, take suitable action.
