Under criminal law, generally in the matter of bails, this doctrine is applied.

Where out of several accused, if one or more accused is/are released on bail on merits, then other accused with similar roles or lesser role will be given bail on parity.

this terms is mostly used in procuring bail for the co accused. in case the bail has been granted to an accused charged with the same offence and the role assigned in the offence to the bailed out accused is also the same, then the other accused may seek bail on the grounds of parity.
