Legal Question in Criminal Law in
One person gave me a chq for one lac rupees. He write only amount and signature. (He didn't write the amount in Words). I deposited the chq in my account. Surprisingly it's his wife's account. It's not joint account. He and his wife are Government employees. How can I proceed now

you may file a criminal complaint for writing a bad cheque against the person who was liable to pay you. If liability was of the husband but cheque was drawn by the wife from wife account, then wife is not criminally liable.
Your only remedy would be to file a civil suit for recovery against the husband
in case the amount was not written in words, then how the bank accepted the cheque for clearing. despite the fact that you may send the notice and proceed for a complaint under NI Act, you case seems to be weak.
