Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Respected Sir,

I fought a cheque bounse case since 1996 of Rs. 8480/-. In trial court Judge order me to paid Rs. 6000/- for compromise and rest amount be paid in lokadalat at earlier stage . But I failed to pay Rs. 2480/- due to some problem. Before judgement of trial court in Sept 2010 I tried to settle the case through compromise but my opponent demanded Rs. 200000. So lower court fined me Rs.5000/- and imprision of six month. In Appeal court my lawyer put petition for compounding as per SC. Due to my opponent not ready for compromise that petition rejected. I am PSU employee plz sir advice me what is the best option for me.

Compromise or compounding is possible only with consent of complainant.

However, in view of payment of more than 70% amount and your willingness to pay the remaining, you may explore plea bargain and you may be out of case by paying fine only instead of imprisonment and fine.
