Legal Question in Criminal Law in

Respected sir,

Myself suffered an eve teasing and physical assualt by strangers.I fought back and to generate public awareness in stopping such acts,i posted my incident on facebook.Later an leading news agency which promised to promote only awareness on such incidents, but published an cover page article, stating myself as 'an victim of sexual abuse',along with my 2 distinct photos.

When protested, the news agency claimed they "have all rights to publish anything they wish, and do't need my approval,as it was all ready in the social community"

This has caused me an immense mental trauma, and tarnished my reputation severely in the society.

What can i do in this matter ?.

Facebook is a social network site. so, defamation would depend upon the account setting you had on FB. If you had set up to share info for every one, then no matter what your objective was it became a public info. Have you compared the two infos, one on FB and one in paper. If the editor has added info which is not authentic then also you may have a case against the paper.
